And I’m jealous of them being able to redline to the moon and back...
But it's no EcoBoost.
HFV has no HFV. But somehow has 2 motorcycles

That looks good. I'll take two.

It’s a shame they’re slower than a normal $35k Camaro SS...

He’s probably talking about the 1/4.
There's 3 that are owned by members at the local track, so we will be able to see if the Camaro can hang with them.

It appears that the R ties/ squeaks by it in the speed categories, but the SS crushes the standard GT350.

Could be the 1LE. That wouldn’t be a “normal
35k SS” though, but still cheaper than the GT500.

See my reply to Ryan for the references I’m using. It’s not a straight 1:1 comparison because the Camaro has an auto, but it’s a regular old torque converter not a DCT so I consider it pretty indicative.

1/4, 0-60, mid-range acceleration all tip to the Camaro when stacked against the regular GT350. However, the R does do a bit better than the Chevy. Check out the articles I responded to Ryan with to see the results. It’s not a 1:1 comparison because they used an auto Camaro, but it’s not a DCT so I consider it pretty indicative of what a manual would be capable of.

Honestly they could run a 20 second 1/4 mile and I’d still want one for the noise.

Meh. There is really only $7,000 separating the Camaro from the GT350, as tested by R&T, and it didn’t “crush” the standard GT350, but it was consistently slightly better in almost every category. Looks to me like the average .2-.3 seconds of advantage that the Camaro had were probably a product of the automatic transmission, as opposed to the six-speed in the Mustang. So, if cheap speed is the mission, then advantage goes to the Chevy. But if you’re looking for old-fashioned fun at the track, then I’d buy the Ford.

If cheap speed is what you want, take off all the luxury crap that pushed the Camaro to within $7k of the GT350. Then add the 1LE pack for $4k. That means you’ll have a car that’s almost $10k cheaper and probably wins at the track too.

The answer is no.

12.2 vs 12.5 on separate days, maybe even separate tracks, with separate drivers (though with the auto in the Camaro, little skill is involved) is not crushing anything.

Let’s see, I’m at 550rwhp N/A, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's and just got my 6-piston Brembo’s put on today. I think I stand a strong chance.
